TO: Board of District Elders

Date: August 5, 2016

From: Suffragan Bishop Spinks

The purpose of this memo is to introduce myself to all who may not know me and to open a dialogue between us.

My name is Vernon Spinks and I am from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am the pastor of Praise Temple Apostolic Faith Church, Inc, and presently serve as the assistant chairman for the North Carolina District Council. In 1976, I was born again under the leadership of the late Pastor Marie D. Battle. After the demised of my former Pastor in 2001, I was installed as the pastor for Praise Temple. The Lord blessed me to plant a church in Fredericksburg, VA in 2004. It’s named Praise Temple Apostolic Faith church of Virginia where I am the Senior Pastor and Elder Terrence Brown is the Pastor. During the PCAF’s National Convention in 2006, I was ordained a District Elder. Since becoming a District Elder, I was very instrumental in uniting the churches in North Carolina and establishing the North Carolina District Council for our State. Prior to our State having its own Council, we were formerly with the Eastern and Southern States Council. I have been married to Evangelist Phillystine Cooper Spinks for 42 years and from our union we have six children.

I am honored and grateful that you have elected me to serve as your chairman. As many of you may already know, I was recently appointed at this year’s National Convention (2016) by the Board of Bishop to the office of Suffragan Bishop Elect. I will, nevertheless, be able to serve as chairman until I am consecrated. Until such time, I am committed to serve and I am eager to accomplish as much as possible as your chairman.
